DVDW is in full transformation while celebrating its 15th year. In 2019, the firm moved its offices in The Hague to the Monarch Tower, in the heart of the city’s central business district: a corporate environment that better matches DVDW’s company image and vision. However, the biggest change is that the firm is pursuing a new challenge. DVDW has opted for a new corporate identity.
DVDW is one of the 50 largest law firms in the Netherlands. For years, it has been an important partner for large domestic companies and multinationals, business owners, investors and family-owned SMEs. Rather than positioning itself as a traditional law firm, DVDW’s new identity stresses its role as a business partner for its clients: experts in the laws of business.
“We provide assistance with all business issues, offering not only personal engagement but also clear and straightforward advice. We are more than just attorneys: we are experts in the laws of business. We combine our knowledge of the law with our business acumen to be the best possible business partner for our clients. We see this as an essential feature of our service and our identity,” explains DVDW Managing Partner Theo Hanssen.
The firm wishes to boost its brand familiarity and reputation by highlighting the quality and potential that have made it an established presence in the top segment of middle-sized law firms in the Netherlands. This requires strength, drive and focus, plus a greater emphasis on communication. The first signs of this are already visible in DVDW’s new visual identity (i.e. house style) and website. The firm hired Dept and Studio Dumbar to help it with its rebranding.
“I already knew DVDW very well from the perspective of a client. What always struck me was that the firm’s strong personalities did not shine through in its house style or on its website. Now, the new house style and the eye-catching logo reflect the firm’s internal character on the outside as well,” comments Tom Dorresteijn, Strategy Director of Studio Dumbar.
DVDW Director Pieter Smits adds, “The form and content of the house style and the website have both undergone a complete update. The logo combines the dynamism of a modern law firm with the strength of a reliable and engaged partner. We have carried these qualities over to the new house style and website by prominently highlighting the strong personalities of our attorneys.”
